If you’re not going to be part of the Fremont 5K & Briefcase Relay today, try to find alternate routes around downtown Fremont this afternoon and tonight, as streets will be closed for the event. North 34th Street will be closed between Fremont Avenue N. and Stone Way N. for staging beginning at 5:45 p.m.

With about a week to go until the neighborhood’s biggest event of the year, the Fremont Solstice Parade on June 19 at noon, the countdown is on for finishing up the floats, ensembles, cleaning up, registration and much more. Friday after work in Fremont, keep on your business attire – and run/walk to benefit charity. It’s time again for the Fremont 5K & Briefcase Relay, beginning at 6 p.m. The 5K begins at 7 p.m. Organizers are expecting close to 1,000 people, with about 250 of them in the costumed briefcase relay.
