Bring your lantern or buy a pre-made lantern to help the Fremont Arts Council raise money and parade around Green Lake celebrating the Fall Equinox this Friday night.

Organizer Peter Toms writes

The Autumn Equinox is approaching and we are getting the mojo together for another fabulous amazingly beautiful nighttime event. The event is produced by the Fremont Arts Council whom you could say knows a thing or two about putting on a great parade! … As always we will start at 7 pm at the Aqua Barn on the south end of Green Lake. As soon as it’s full dark we’ll head out onto the parade route with the bands rocking and all the coolest lanterns and lighty lights out and about. We’ll end at the Secret Banquet with cider, cookies and treats, more music and fun, and of course King Winter will appear to oversee the festivities. Last year it was a gorgeous evening and the moon was riding high in the sky for the Autumn Equinox. This year will be even better! All lanterns, puppets, lit up costumes, lighty toys, burner wear etc are welcome…we will have lanterns for sale at the event – please do buy a lantern and support the FAC! Even if you already have one. You just can’t have too many lanterns. And this is how the event raises money so that it can continue on each year.

Luminata participants will get down to music from the Orkestar Zirkonium marching band, and One Love marching band led by funkiest trombone Marc Smason. All ages are welcome, and festive dress is encouraged. Meet at the South End of Green Lake, next to the boat launch / water amphitheater (begin gathering at 7pm, parade starts at dusk).
