After more than 3 decades, Deluxe Junk is closing it’s doors. Reportedly, a dispute with the store’s landlord over their lease led to a grassroots campaign to save Deluxe Junk. However, an agreement was reached last week and store owner David Marzullo has decided to retire. The store will close within 60 days, and building owner, Doric Lodge No. 92 will take back ownership of the space. Deluxe Junk’s Facebook page confirms:

Well that was one for the books. Thank you all… As you can imagine we feel like a couple of rag dolls at a puppy`s convention. Reasoning has been restored and the calm is a good thing. We have now settled into the fact that we are retiring and leaving Fremont and you all but to be honest folks we are tired. It has been a phenomenal run and the people and…we have met over the years deserves a book. Maybe that will be our retirement. Write about Deluxe and Fremont. Pulling no punches. We are fine now about retiring, regardless of the earlier not to be spoken of circumstances, and want all anger out of the picture and on to a celebration of our times together. We will miss you as much as you will miss us, have no doubt. But all good times come to an end but it doesn’t mean we have to mourn. As a bit of funny nostalgia we have put some photos up of what Fremont looked like just before we opened. Please, we now need your support to help us liquidate. We are finding great stuff in the back rooms and are adding to our 50% off sale daily, We don`t want to seem desperate but we are. Tell everyone you can to come on down. We will be having the sale run every day but Wednesday and again thank all our soldiers for fighting to right a wrong. The power of the people should never be underestimated and you guys proved that. You should be as proud of yourselves as we are of you.

This iconic store will be missed by many. Readers, do you have a favorite Deluxe Junk purchase or experience to share?
