Food & Wine Magazine is tired of telling you who the best new chef in America is. They want to know who YOU think the best new chef in America is. They’ve broken up the field into regions and there’s one Fremont chef that made the top ten for the Northwest region.

Shaun McCrain, head chef at The Book Bindery (198 Nickerson Street), is among the choices available and one of three finalists from Seattle. McCrain is nominated “because his illustrious training and limitless imagination produce food that’s polished and exhilarating.”

Considering you’re looking up available reservations at the Bindery right now, Food & Wine also called out the Hamachi with house-made chile rice crisps, gelled dashi and avocado as the must-try dish.

Other Seattle chef include Jason Franey (Canlis) & Brian McCracken and Dana Tough (Spur).

Voting is live until March 11th, at which time the chef with the most votes overall will be named The People’s Best New Chef for 2011.
