I received an email from an anonymous tipster today regarding the Fremont bar & club ToST. They said the club was closing due to new ownership. Looks like that’s been confirmed by The Stranger’s Line Out blog.
I haven’t seen any press on it yet, so thought I’d spread the word that ToST in Fremont was sold and is closing January 1. This is the last week of shows.The employees were told last Wednesday, three days before Christmas, that their jobs are gone at the new year…which sucks. I remember there was a lot of pulling together for the employees of the Crocodile when this happened to them three years ago, and while ToST isn’t the Crocodile, I’m surprised that I haven’t seen any mention of the closing of this venue.
The folks over at ToST confirmed as much on their Facebook page, though they did caveat that the new space would be ready shortly:
ToST has been sold to a new ownership team, effective at the start of the new year. The new owners plan to close for a few weeks to remodel. So next Thursday will be THE LAST MARMALADE Tost!!!!!! ToST is at least going out with a bang. Their New Year’s Eve party will be their final night.
