Prep for Solstice: Clean up Power House

“Many hands make light work, the more the merrier,” said Mylinda Sneed, Parade Coordinator for the 2010 Fremont Solstice Parade, in trying to drum up a volunteer crew for this weekend’s pre-parade clean-up at the main building grounds for the parade, the Fremont Arts Council’s Power House, 3940 Fremont Ave. N. “It’s an easy way for people to get involved.”

The big float move from Ballard is also happening Saturday, but to get the place ready for building the street-level spectacle, the Power House space needs to be cleaned out to make room for all the activity.

If you want to get in on the ground level in this ultimate behind-the-scenes action, join your fellow volunteers for this afternoon of organizing and coordinating all the pieces, parts, & bits on hand for building the parade. Start working at 11 a.m., and by 5 p.m., you can call it a day. (If you need to leave before 5, that’s fine too. They’ll appreciate any help you can lend.)
  • Also – do you have tools or materials that belong to the FAC? Everything in the tool shed – from ribbon bins to bobble and bead supplies – needs to be accounted for, so please bring back anything borrowed from the FAC by cleaning day, or even on cleaning day, so it can put it away properly.
  • Do you have something stored at the Power House? Now is the time to pick it up and find a new home for it. Whatever is in the Power House can/may/will be re-appropriated or incorporated into the parade.
  • If you are interested in helping out Saturday, contact Mylinda at: parade@fremontartscouncil.org.
