News blog for Seattle's Fremont neighborhood

Are there graffiti concerns in Fremont?

By master · February 24th, 2010 · 4 Comments

Graffiti has been a concern for Fremont in the past.  People have woken up to find their cars and homes tagged.  The Bridge Mural under Aurora has been damaged more than once.

We are collaborating with The Seattle Times and its news partners on a graffiti-related piece and we’d like to know your thoughts: Do you think there is a graffiti problem in Fremont?  Where are the trouble spots?  Is this a growing concern?  Has it gotten better or worse?  Are any groups in the neighborhood monitoring or cleaning it up?  Is there an effective way to keep taggers away?  Post your thoughts in the comments below or email

I definitely think there is a growing graffiti problem in Fremont. It seems to have gotten worse over the last 6-12 months. It used to be concentrated over where 35th turns to Leary but I think we, who live in the neighborhood, can attest to seeing it in the core of Fremont now on a semi-regular basis. It's disgusting to see our neighborhood get ruined.

I'm fine with it, so long as the taggers stick with abandoned construction site like the pit at 40th and Stone.

Defacing a mural like the one on Bridge Way is just wrong.

Its definitely worse. The city utility boxes were covered 2 times in a perios od 2 weeks on 43rd and Midvale. An apartment building on 44th and Midvale got it. A dumpster on Midvale… tagging outsid eof fuerte Fitness

    Its BAD!

Clean it up immediately or report it if you want it to go away. nothing P. O.'s a tagger more then having their work evaporate right after they do it.
