The food truck fest known as Mobile Chowdown is returning to Interbay this Saturday to showcase the best in Seattle’s street food scene.

Dubbed as a celebration of “curbside cuisine”, the first Mobile Chowdown caused a foodie frenzy back in October.  While it was considered a huge hit by organizers, criticism was that lines were too long, things were unorganized and worst of all – food ran out.  “Because the last event was the first time any of the vendors took part in an event like this, it was a learning experience for all. This time they will be more prepared with food, etc.,” says Jamie Hinz of Suzuki + Chou Communimedia, one of the event sponsors.

“At this round the trucks will be placed more strategically, lines will be clearly marked to make each vendor more distinguishable.”  Hinz adds there will also be port-a-potties, tables, chairs and canopies, as well as event staff to keep things flowing smoothly.  Live music performed by contemporary Latin and mariachi band Ajedrez should also keep things lively and entertaining.

Returning vendors include “Best Food Truck in America” Marination Mobile, Fremont’s Kaosamai Thai, Dante’s Inferno Dogs, Gert’s BBQ, and El Camion.  New to the scene will be local creperie Anita’s Crepes, Veraci Pizza, Top Pot Doughnuts and Jones Soda.  Face-stuffing commences at 11 a.m. and goes until 3 p.m. in the empty lot at 1616 W. Bertona (across from Denali Gym).  Get there early and bring your appetite!
