Stern’s career spans three decades after getting his start as a guitar player for Blood, Sweat & Tears at the age of 22.  A few years later he was recruited by legendary jazz musician Miles Davis to be a key player in his 1981 comeback band.  He then continued on as a leader, touring and playing around the world with artists and musicians that include David Sanborn, Bela Fleck and the Yellowjackets.  Stern’s 1993 release, Standards (And Other Songs), earned him Best Jazz Guitarist of the Year by readers and critics of Guitar Player magazine.  From there his biography reads like a who’s who of acclaimed jazz artists.  In celebration of DownBeat Magazine’s 75th anniversary earlier this year, the jazz publication named Stern to their list of all-time “75 Great Guitarists”.

Tonight’s clinic and performance at American Music begins at 7 p.m. and features Stern with bassist Tom Kennedy.  The event is free and will also have giveaways and door prizes.
