Fremont’s weekend to-do list

It’s hard to believe that Christmas is exactly TWO weeks from today.  Not to stress, there’s still plenty of time to go shopping.  Here’s a quick breakdown of ways to procrastinate this weekend:

  • The SportsWise Winter Warehouse Sale runs today until 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.  50%-90% off brand name outdoor and sports clothing in the former Caper’s space in The Canal Building (716 N. 34th St).  Click here for more info.
  • Learn to make your own chocolate treats at a Confection Workshop at Theo Chocolate (3400 Phinney Ave N) on Saturday from 2-5 p.m.  A Theo chocolatier will teach techniques for making ganache and tempering chocolate.  Best of all, you get to walk away with all your work.  Cost is $125 plus tax per person.  To reserve a spot (required), call 206-632-5100.
  • The Fremont Players’ holiday production of “Aladdin and the Magic Lamp” opens Saturday at Hale’s Palladium (4301 Leary Way NW, Fred Meyer side of Hale’s).  Sunday’s matinee performance is a benefit for the B.F. Day Elementary School Foundation.  Show times are 3 p.m and 7:30 p.m. on Saturday and 3 p.m. on Sunday.  Tickets are $12 for adults, $6 for kids, and can be bought online or at the door.
  • Pinkapalooza 3 takes over Nectar Lounge (412 N. 36th St) on Saturday at  7 p.m.  Rock Band enthusiasts can battle on a live stage with a 10-foot projector screen to benefit Penny Arcade’s Child’s Play charity, which donates games, toys, books and cash to children’s hospitals across the country.  Suggested donation is $10 with all proceeds going to Child’s Play.  This is a 21+ event.
  • Pinkapalooza3

As usual for live music, check the calendars at High Dive, ToST and Nectar.
