To mark the Winter Solstice, the longest night of the year, the Friends of Fremont Peak Park are celebrating with a procession of lights and music on Sunday, December 20, at 4 p.m.

There may not be snow like last year’s celebration (pictured above, photo by D.C. Anstett), but festivities should be lively and fun nonetheless.  Donations of cookies and warm beverages are welcome, as are berries and pine cones to decorate the park.

Anyone interested in participating in the light procession should attend a brief practice at Fremont Peak Park (4357 Palatine Ave N) on Saturday, December 19, at 4 p.m.  Volunteers will also be decorating the park on Sunday morning at 11 a.m.  For more information, go to Friends of Fremont Peak Park’s website or email info@fremontpeakpark.org.
