Caffe Vita is Green & Good

By master · October 20th, 2009 · 5 Comments

Starting Wednesday, October 21, through October 28, Caffe Vita on Fremont Ave. is participating in the City of Seattle’s Green Eats Week.  Customers who purchase select items during this week will receive coupons good for composting.  The promotion was created by Seattle Public Utilities Food+Compostables program to highlight several local restaurants who are among the first to implement recyclable service ware and customer area composting.

Caffe Vita
Green Eats Week will give diners an idea of what to expect when ALL Seattle food establishments will be required to use recyclable or compostable service ware and packaging products by July 1, 2010.  Under Seattle’s new Food Packaging Requirements, area restaurants have already been banned from using styrofoam containers since January 2009.

On another note, the November issue of GQ Magazine, which just came out, lists Caffe Vita as one of the Top 10 places for Best Coffee in America (Seattle’s Zoka and Stumptown also make the list).  Author Oliver Strand writes about Caffe Vita, “All you need to know is that it’s one of the most complex, provocative cups of coffee you’ll ever taste.”

Who says good guys finish last?

We need more places like this, unlike those that are still using Styrofoam!

The Fremont Caffe Vita is on the northwest corner of 43rd and Fremont, in the old ICON coffee space.
