Mural spiff-up and paint-out on Saturday

By master · September 10th, 2009 · 2 Comments

The Bridge Mural on Bridge Way under Aurora has once again been damaged by graffiti, and once again the Fremont Arts Council is rounding up the troops to clean it up.

This Saturday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. come out, meet your neighbors and help clean the wall. No experience is necessary to help out, all you need is to wear your paintin’ clothes and, perhaps, bring a bucket and a rag for washing. All other supplies will be provided.

There was a rumor that Seattle police cut back on graffiti investigation because of budget issues. Please write to the Seattle Chief of Police and request increased focus on graffiti; other major cities have seen large reduction in other crimes when graffiti is policed aggressively.

That mural needs an overhaul. I am a huge supporter of public art, but every time I pass it, i think to myself, “really?” Although i will say, it is a pretty good cross section of America today.
