Backyard cottages, also known as mother-in-law units with more breathing room, could be a new housing option for Seattle. Right now South Seattle is the only area to have them, but Mayor Nickels has proposed allowing them throughout the city. You can learn more about the idea at tonight’s (Monday) Lake Union District Council meeting at the History House (790 N. 34th St.) at 6 p.m. (The meeting was originally scheduled for the Fremont Neighborhood Service Center.)
